environmental designer, architect, interior architect

India Mahdavi set up her own architecture, interior architecture and furniture design practice in 1999. She soon found herself working on the international circuit for Joseph Ettedgui, Jonathan Morr, lan Schrager...

After qualifying as an architect (DPLG) in Paris, she completed her training in New York (School of Visual Arts, Parsons School of Design), and worked for the Christian Liaigre office as art director. It wasn’t long before she began to move away from the French school, developing a concise, direct style that is never doctrinaire. She prefers impregnating herself with the memory of places to extract a contemporary project from them.

India Mahdavi has worked for de luxe labels (Givenchy, Joseph, Vuitton) but retains a certain eclecticism in the choice of projects, whether it be on the geographical level or on that of objectives.

All her creations reveal a perfect balance between functionality and sensuality, an earthy relationship to space, a blend of masculine structures and feminine curves. Whether she is working in New York, Paris, Mexico, Hong Kong or Siwa, her multi-cultural background immediately tunes her in to the specific atmosphere of a culturally charged universe.

Creations by India Mahdavi are recognizable by their timelessness and savoir-faire, their standard of perfection allied to the freedom to create places and things that are accessible, sensual and elegant.
