Starting from a reflexion on the ambiguity between art and the object (via Duchamp), Liégent has designed a series of functional objects such as vase, shelf, low table, lamp, chair and desk to extend what is properly artistic. The interesting thing is to create objects that have meaning in both fields of application : art and design. Objects that are both artistic and decorative enable non-specialist people to be in daily contact with certain issues concerning plastic perception that have shaped the 20th century. These very basic objects bring reflexion on art to the most unexpected places. They also enable us to gauge the respective shares of function, art and decoration in a chameleon object, which can be displayed in an art gallery (art function) or decoration boutique (décor function). This ambiguity mixes art into daily life and daily life into art, for a wide range of people.
