Each project is an ’adventure’ into which I plunge with enthusiasm and generosity. In the restoring of character homes, local and historic research is necessary if we are to show respect for what was designed by our predecessors. An approach to ’understand’ the building is vital for ’faithful’ rendering, and not the method (so often used) which consists in making something new from what is old. At the risk of being accused of living in the past, I persist in the application of this savoir-faire, helped by people whom I call capital ’C’ craftsmen, the heirs of the knowledge of their masters, which they use to serve beautiful works that will leave a mark. To sum up, as Nicolas LEDOUX so aptly put it: ’The Beautiful brings forth the Good’. This is my motto.
