environmental designer, scenographer

Born in France in 1976, Sam Baron holds a post-graduate
degree from the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris and
a degree in Design from the Fine Arts School of Saint-Étienne.
In a continuous reinterpretation of traditional `savoir-faire’, his
work raises questions about the utility of today’s material
production. His projects include interior design and exhibitions,
often developed in a cross-over between Art and Design.
As an independent designer and consultant, Sam Baron works
for international brands such as Louis Vuitton, L’Oreal, Christofle
or Dinh Van. Currently, he is head of the Design Department of
Fabrica, Benetton’s communication research center in Treviso,
Italy.
He has received several distinctions, such as the `Grand Prix
de la Creation de la Ville de Paris’ (2009), and was chosen by
Philippe Starck as one of the `ten designers of the next decade’
(Maison & Objet, 2010). For his `Colors Collector’ issue he was
awarded `Silver Cube’ by the New York Art Directors Club and
nominated as `Yellow Pencil’ by the London Art Directors Club
(2010). Among several design publications, his work was
featured in the New York Times magazine as special guest.
