interior architect, redecorator

Marc Hertrich trained as an interior architect at the école Boulle in Paris, and has designed and decorated many prestige places since 1987. He was in-house decorator for the hôtel Richemond in Geneva, after which he worked for a decade designing for luxury residences, prestige jewellery stores, hotels and private mansions of high standing. In 1997 he met Nicolas Adnet who became his associate.
Self-taught and passionately involved in fashion, Nicolas Adnet has held key administrative posts with the Lanvin house of haute couture. He has an innate feeling for fine materials, a love of colours and a sense of detail.
The encounter of two creators who share much the same sensitivity for creation led to the setting up of Studio Marc Hertrich & Nicolas Adnet. The unlikely duo soon gave proof of real synergy.
Together they elaborate the concepts for their projets. Each place reveals to them its own story-line: meeting a new client, his/her personality, universe and architectural heritage to conserve or upgrade, work in progress... The main issue is to create a clear identity for each of their commissions by instilling harmonies of materials, colours and furnishings – the result is more often than not an exclusive creation, like a signature.
The worlds they create are usually contemporary in spirit, whether they be in an historic setting or in modern architecture. They are always highly imaginative, a tad offbeat, and a far cry from the neutral atmospheres of so many works that are cold and conventional.
Each country they visit becomes a source of inspiration, with local artisan work reappearing in the elaboration of their projects, as well as cultural heritage.
Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet are adepts of rigour and fantasy, poetry and whatever is life.
