environmental designer, industrial designer, scenographer

The BL119 studio represents a partnership of two designers: Grégory Blain and Hervé Dixneuf.
Both of us trained at the Beaux-Arts school in Saint Etienne, and we share the same approach to design. In our collaboration we aim at putting our projects together amidst dialogue, exchanges and questioning.

An important part of our approach is dedicated to researching forms by drawing and experimentation. Our research work tends towards getting down to the simplicity of the object.
Our work method explores and appropriates processes of fabrication and assemblage as well as formal and technical elements in order to transpose them into projects.
We try to direct our thought into a poetic dimension to create objects that are singular, functional and surprising.

Grégory Blain graduated from the Saint-Étienne fine arts school in 2006. His research project ’Le grenier et la plateforme’ was presented in the ’VIA design schools’ show. He was also invited to exhibit at ’Inspired by Cologne’.
Hervé Dixneuf graduated from the Saint-Étienne fine arts school in 2005. He then did post-graduate research in design at the Cité du design in 2006. He presented a research project focusing on motorways in the ’Macadam Cow-boys’ exhibition at the Design biennale, in partnership with the DDE.
