environmental designer, interior architect, scenographer, visual designer

Interior architect trained at the Ecole Boulle and Arts déco. Has on several occasions handled sensitive projects in places rich with history: layout of sales outlets at château de Versailles (1991-92), Patrimoine bookshop overlooking Tuileries gardens (1996), Queen Dido villa located on the archaeological site of Byrsa in Carthage (2004) and the ‘Saut du Loup’ restaurant at the Arts Décoratifs museum in Paris. In all of these places, Philippe Boisselier has contrived to instil contemporary reading by means of minimal writing. His style is timeless and devoid of ostentation. Its apparent simplicity conceals an obsession with detail and finesse in handling spatial interplay. Each one of his interventions is a pretext for elaborating furniture fit-outs based on specific design studies, from outline sketch to prototype, and on to the actual fit-out. It is this same approach that he has been teaching to his students since 1980 at the Ecole Camondo (Ecole supérieure de design et d’architecture intérieure, attached to the Arts Décoratifs museum, located boulevard Raspail), an establishment he directed from 1989 to 1992. Although Philippe Boisselier was the first designer to figure in the Trois Suisses catalogue in 1982, with a collection of kit furniture and a rug, most of his work concerns interior architecture (hotels, offices, private spaces) and scenography. Since the year 2000, his set designs have presented the ‘Now ! design à vivre’ event at the Maison & Objet salon at Villepinte, and he has designed theme exhibitions mounted by the magazine Intramuros.
