Pearson Lloyd is multi-disciplinary design studio based in Central London. The studio’s work focuses on Design For Manufacture, Strategic Brand Development and Research in the fields of Furniture, Transport Design and the Public Realm.
Recent projects include the design for Virgin Atlantic Airway’s new Upper Class Suite, and projects for Fritz Hansen, Artemide, Ideal-Standard, Knoll International, Magis and Walter Knoll. PearsonLloyd has won numerous awards through out Europe and America for their work and were voted the FX Designers of the Year in 2002.


DIRECTORS

LUKE PEARSON

Luke trained in Industrial Design at The Central St Martins School of Art in London, (BA Hons 1991) before completing a Masters Degree in Furniture Design at the Royal College of Art in 1993. He then worked as Senior Designer with Ross Lovegrove in London and on a variety of furniture & product design projects of his own before joining Tom to found PearsonLloyd. Luke runs a Platform on the Design Products course at the Royal College of Art.

TOM LLOYD

Tom trained in Furniture design at Nottingham, (BA Hons 1991) before completing a Masters Degree in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art in 1993. He then worked as Senior Designer with Daniel Weil at Pentagram in London and on a variety of furniture, product & interior projects of his own before joining Luke to found PearsonLloyd. Tom was External Examiner on the Design Products course at the Royal College of Art in 2004.


Tom & Luke are visiting lecturers at the Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne in Switzerland. Their work has been widely published and they have contributed articles to major publications. They are currently writing, by invitation, a monograph of their work together. They regularly sit on judging panels and have presented their work at numerous international design conferences. These include, a presentation of their award winning design for Virgin Atlantic’s New Upper Class Suite at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Tokyo in October 2004. Luke has recently lectured at the acclaimed Design Indaba in South Africa in February 2005. Tom spoke to the D&AD congress in April on the subject of international exchange. Designs for Ideal-Standard were presented at ISH in Frankfurt in March. The ICFF furniture fair in New York invited Tom and Luke as guest designers at the furniture fair in May.
