For me the big question today bears on the means of acting within the complexity of the contemporary world. Trying to articulate one’s thought and practice with this complexity supposes acting without prejudice towards various categories, and it can be done provided we are aware of the context in which we are working, and of the consequences it will have on the project. It also means acting without prejudice towards the goals that can be reached through the project. Today, design projects (but not only them) are not elaborated from a presupposition of a break with the existing world and its negation. They are added on to the existing world. They are added on to reality and change it little by little. They are immersed in this reality and take part in the complexity of the world.
Pierre Charpin.
