environmental designer, interior architect, industrial designer, scenographer, visual designer, teacher

Matali Crasset trained as an industrial designer but her work experience soon led her into spheres of activity that she never thought she would be involved in: from scenography to furniture, and from graphics to interior architecture... She has a new way of looking at everyday living and makes propositions that are rich with meaning.
Her objects are never an extension of her ego. As an example, for one of her best-known projects, the "Quand Jim monte à Paris" hospitality column, she simply developed new typologies articulated around principles such as modularity, flexibility, generosity and hospitality...
Her work, which came to the fore in the 90s, is based on a refusal of pure form and questions our living space, introducing notions of mobility and experimentation.
Her recent upgrade of the Hi hotel in Nice aims at offering a new contemporary experience.
